Who created Mariposa and why?
Mariposa was developed by Credit Canada, Canada’s first and longest-standing non-profit credit counselling agency. Yes - Mariposa offers guidance on managing debt and will provide you with tailored debt management recommendations. If needed, Mariposa can connect you to a certified Credit Counsellor for more personalized support.
Can Mariposa negotiate with creditors for me?
No, Mariposa is an AI Agent and cannot negotiate on your behalf. However, it can guide you through available debt solutions and, if you choose to participate in a Debt Consolidation Program (DCP), our Credit Canada Credit Counsellors will negotiate with your creditors to reduce or eliminate your interest payments. Is Mariposa free to use?
Yes! Mariposa is a free tool provided by Credit Canada to help Canadians take control of their finances. Whether you’re using Mariposa, live chat, or speaking directly to one of our certified Credit Counsellors on the phone or in person, all of our credit counselling services are free and confidential.
